We are seeking to fill: 

RN or NP for Domestic Violence Shelter

Primary Duties:
* Manage a medically-focused program and assist clients in navigating the health system
* Provide crisis intervention, information and referral, advocacy, legal/medical accompaniment, and room assignments, conduct safety and psychological screenings, and conduct shelter intakes, orientations, and exit interviews
* Provide case management, to include assisting in developing individualized service plans that identify priorities, desired outcomes, and strategies and resources to be used to promote safety and self-sufficiency, while adhering to approved case plans and the team approaches
* Create and facilitate a minimum of two, health-related psychoeducational groups
* Assume responsibility for safety and security of the shelter during shift and ensure residents follow security and safety guidelines and other resident requirements/procedures

Volunteer Coordinator/Licensed Teacher

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Recruit, screen, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate, and retain volunteers

2. Identify emerging training needs, create curriculum/content for new training modules, implement refresher training and continuing education (CE) for staff and volunteers related to the provision of victim services; design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans and volunteer development plans; and track training compliance and CEs

3. Outreach to and conduct presentations about the organization to community members, to include churches and colleges, table community events; organize trainings, meetings, and events; maintain training and event calendars; and maintain educational and outreach materials; and create materials for and manage social media

If candidate is also a licensed teacher:

  • Create lesson plans and curriculum/content for new and revised training modules, maintain training, and organize and conduct trainings and continuing education (CE) for community members and schools about sex education, effects of trauma, and sexual harassment, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and related forms of violence
  • Provide academic support to children within our domestic violence shelter (Farmville, VA) or community office location (Kenbridge, VA)
  • Organize trainings, meetings, and events; maintain training and event calendars; and maintain educational and outreach materials
  • Provide psychoeducation groups per quarter, to include one for child/adolescent clients and/or with non-offending parent/guardian clients in the shelter and one group for child/adolescents in the community
  • Plan outreach/prevention activities and awareness campaigns, create maintain community partnerships, attend meetings held by community groups, and conduct presentations about the organization to community members
  • Manage prevention supplies and assist other staff with coordinating structured children’s activities
