SAVE (Sexual Assault Victim Empowerment)
SAVE (Sexual Assault Victim Empowerment) is our sexual violence program. In addition to our general services, our SAVE program also supports PREA and focuses on awareness and Title IX assistance on college campuses.SAVE provides mental health counseling in order to help sexual violence survivors process their trauma and learn how to move forward. Clients of SAVE can receive counseling both individually and through therapy/support groups. SAVE also provides advocacy and accompaniment by connecting survivors with resources and accompanying them to related medical appointments and law enforcement interviews, supporting them if they go to court, and more.
SAVE clients also have access to SCVP's Forensic Advocacy Program, where sexual violence survivors can come after the assault to have forensic exams in a calm, trauma-informed environment.
In addition to the above services, SAVE can assist college students at Longwood University, Hampden-Sydney College, and Southside Virginia Community College by supporting and guiding them through the Title IX complaint process and advocating for them on campus. A SAVE provider is on campus at Longwood University every Wednesday and can meet with students there.
